Great shots! Are you sure the Rio bridge pic was taken in 2004 and not earlier? I mean, if it had to be ready by August of that year, there was a hell of a job to be done before finishing...

That's how the bridge was in early January, when I took the picture, on my way from Athens to London. (The bridge structure was completed in May 2004).
This article in TA NEA, published just a few days before my photo was taken, details the construction status at that point, and also has a photo that mirrors the one here.
